Made me smile!

Hi all,
I have had such a lovely couple of weeks, crazy i know, I wanted to share all the things that have made me smile!
The first was on weds 6th, a school night I'll have you know, when we ventured over to Brighton to see a cheeky chappy known as Olly Murs in concert! I went with one of my best friends Emma, her fiancé Jk and Emma's brother!
Do you know what we had such a lovely time, ollys happiness and smile is super infectious that in no time we were all boogying along! The slightly embarrassing part for me was that I proved that I know none of the real words to songs, does anyone else make up the words themselves or is it just me?!?
The lovely Olly was supported by the loveable rogues who I am informed were on Britain's got Talent, and were actually pretty darn good as well, so all in all a great time.
I have then managed to fill this weekend with seeing some of the people I love to bits!
First on Saturday I went over to the local leisure centre and watched the two girls I used to nanny do their gymnastics and then we caught up over tea and biscuits! Now these girls I looked after when they were 2 months and 3 years old, alongside their lovely mum as part of my college course! They are now.....wait for it.... Nearly 8 and 11!
I KNOW now I feel old!!!!!
The two girls have truely blossomed and are both gorgeous and I love them too bits!
I then popped over to Worthing to the pub with Hannah and a different Emma, two more of my best friends, to watch the rugby 6 nations, where it is safe to say England did abysmally! I however took the loss a lot better than some of the other clientele in the pub who took solace in their pints!
Saturday evening was spent with another best friend Emma and her fiancé making their wedding invitations up, which was soooo exciting. We were joined by the best man and maid of honour and a lovely friend, and it's safe to say we had a lovely evening with a LOT of laughing!
After the invitation making had finished we reminisced over old music including aqua, ace of base, alliyah, nelly, s club 7, prodigy....you can see my point. It was great to remember all the old music we used to boogy too, at school discos the majority of them.
Last but not least today I spent this afternoon with my two oldest friends, Katie and Lucy. I'm going to say this quietly we have known each other over 20 years, since we were 5 years old! These girls know me inside out and back to front and I love that we can not see each other for a month or so but completely pick up like we saw each other yesterday.
I came away from this weekend feeling truly blessed that I have so many wonderful people in my life who bring so much joy to my heart I love them all to bits!
Slushy part over I'll leave you with one final fleeting image that made me smile. Driving home from Lucy's house I was following a VW car that on closer inspection was called an "UP!" The name even had an exclamation mark in it!
It just made me smile next will be "right!" or "car!" This could keep me amused for a while.
Have you had any lovely times of recent I would love to hear about them.
Take care
Love Katy

Ps. I think the photo below is my motto in life and the reason I have no money!

Pps. So you can put a face to a name in the snowman photo is Emma and jk, and then Hannah, Emma S and me on a night out in London!
I need to find an oldy photo of Lucy and Katie!

All about the flowers 💐

Hi all,
Hope your all well.
So I have been doing my floristry course over the last month and have had 3 workshops. It has been so much fun and a great experience to learn how to put flowers together properly.
I love flowers mainly because they always manage to brighten my mood as well as making any recipient feel special and loved.
The florist that the workshops are held out is in Chichester in a quaint little shop, and hands down has the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. Not only are the flowers stunning, but each session you get to choose which colours and variety of flower you want.
I have learnt some valuable tips during my three workshops, I'll even share them with you.

*florists generally work in odd numbers and often use triangles in their bouquets and arrangements to space the flowers apart.
*mainly one main flower is used eg. Roses, Lily's! It's usually a larger flower and then accompanied by two other varieties.
* mixing the textures of the flowers adds variety to the bouquet, so a large rose mixed with a spiky lavender and then a bushy flower.
*colour mixing. Pink and white, pink and purple, yellow and green, white and green,
white and yellow, purple and white, bright pink and lime green.
So far I have made 2 hand tied bouquets, a front facing oasis arrangement and a small table arrangement.
I'll post the pictures below and let you know how the next couple of workshops go, one things for sure is I will miss it when it ends.
If your lucky maybe I'll make you flowers one day, if your nice to me hehe.
Lots of love
Katy

Notable absence....sorry!

I firstly need to apologise for my lack of posts during the month of February! Basically it's because the day of love falls in this month and I am a sulky singleton! No really it's just been an overwhelmingly busy time! Work has been crazy, life has been crazy plus I chose this month to both get fit and get ill; I definitely think it proves exercise is bad and so to blame!
February has also been the start of lent! For Those who don't know me too well I am a believer in Christianity and so decided to give up not one but two items of importance!
The first and it pains me to say it was chocolate....and oh painful it has been. I never really realised quite how much I would miss it but have found myself sniffing friends packets ( I checked its not cheating) and drooling over pictures in magazines! I can't even bear to get within 10 feet of the choc aisle in any supermarket and talk of said item brings tears to my eyes. It's safe to say I am missing it! The second I gave up was crisps, and these I also miss but not on the same level as choc!
I've just realised all I have talked about is food, see how much I'm missing it!
On this health kick I have been a frequent friend of the gym and started a hardcore legs bums and tums class... It's so hard made even worse as the pregnant instructor breezes through it as I procrastinate my way through the session!
Unfortunately I have yet to make it to a yoga class that isn't either fully booked or isn't either in the middle of the day (some of us have jobs to do) or at some ungodly hour! Leave that one with me, i'll try and keep you informed.
Oh and I started my floristry course, and love it! What's not to love I get to choose, make and keep pretty flowers every other week, I will do a whole post on that at some point this weekend.... Promise!
Anyway on that note I'm off, hope alls well

Below is a present from a lovely friend at work for V day! Considering the start of this post I think it fits quite well.
Plus it's chocolate!
Roll on 30th march!!!!!

All time low!

Unfortunately due to an untimely illness making me feel as though I am about 90 years old. I actually fell asleep on my lunch break and in the hairdressers, not only that but I haven't seen past 8:30pm all week!
All time LOW!
Anyway because of this I haven't been able to one eat much (breaks my heart) 😩 and two do anything on the list!
But I'm hoping I'm on the up now, and have today, managed to enquire about a floristry course! I'm also hoping to attend yoga on Friday and have a couple of fun weekends planned one of which is in Bournemouth!
So too the illness, you need to do one please I don't have time to be ill and to all you lovely people, stay tuned!

Too many smarties!

So it would appear my friends and family know me so well! For christmas I received 5 tubes of pink smarties!
Firstly they know my love for anything pink and secondly my sweet tooth!
I am however a little stuck on what to do with them all, thoughts I have had already are to make a giant pink cake decorated with said smarties! Filling up mason jars would look pretty I'm sure of it!
But having 5 extra large tubes will not be used up quickly and easily!
So this is where you all come in have your got any tips, ideas that I can steal from you to get said confectionary out of my reach!
Please HELP!
Hope your all well

Also the photo below is the huge bag of chocolates still left from christmas, any assistance would be appreciated!

YoGa

So this week my aim was to tackle some of the bucket list!
My first task was to try and book yoga! I thought this was going to be an easy mission, I was incorrect!
It would seem that if I resided in a city like London I would have a huge variety of classes at my disposable, unfortunately living on the south coast meant that most of the classes were in the daytime ..........HELLO I Work!!!
It would also appear that their are probably about 20 different types of yoga!(this was meant to be any easy mission)
So finally after reading up and researching a lot and roping my lovely friend Emma in! The only local class we could find is on a Friday night, not the best night but that is all they could offer us!
We were meant to go to our first class last night but because of the snow we didn't make it, so next Friday I'll let you know how we get on!
What is suitable attire?
Do you know any yoga moves?
Any tips would be great I'm a completely rookie!

SNOW

So I may well be in the minority of people that were so excited to see the snow!
I think snow really is the most magical thing ever, driving down a country road with trees either side and snow topping them actually felt like I was in narnia!
Luckily because I work with children I can get them to share my excitement (which I did). As soon as the snow starting getting lighter we all togged up in snow suits to play!
Even more lucky was the fact we finished early so my bestie Emma and her fiancé jooky went to a nearby field and promptly made snow angels, a snow man and then went sledging!
Sledging and snow angels weren't on the bucket list, but I have never done either before so that's two more ticks! YAY
I'm hoping I can attach a video of us sledging!
Stay safe out there

Just a little obsession

So in this post I thought I would share the current love of my life.....Pinterest!!
Oh my goodness if a relationship bought me as much happiness, surprise, excitement as Pinterest does, my life would be complete!
I cannot possibly convey to you how obsessed I am with it, you could probably see this from the 1000 pins in about 4 months! But I can share with you all why I love it so!
1) it has some of the most beautiful pictures ever
2) I can create a wedding board without being judged
3) there are so many different fashion genres, such great ideas!
4) it has some many crafting and DIY ideas, so many that the list of making is endless!
If you fancy a gander at my boards my name is katylou55

Do any of you have a huge obsession with Pinterest or any other social media site?!? Maybe we could start a counselling group I'll start us off
"Hi I'm Katy and I have a serious obsession with Pinterest"
Have a great day

Ps- below wouldn't you love this as a lunch bag!

Giving to charity.

So something that is on my list and has been on my mind for a while, is giving a monthly amount of money to charity.
I have wanted to do this for ages but have never committed myself, however I did raise over £1000 for Children with Cancer last year so feel a though I have given something back.
It's hard though, knowing who to choose, I would love to give to numerous charities and maybe in the long run I can commit myself to helping more but to start with I will be selecting two.
I hasten to add that I write all this on my up to date technology Ian warm house with a loving family, hence my need to give something back.
This is however where my problems arise who on earth to choose, they are all so worthwhile and many touch my heart and make me want to cry, I am somewhat in touch with my emotions.
Here are my thoughts in narrowing down the choice:

  • I work with children so can easily relate emotionally to what these charities do, however do I choose a charity that works with children who are ill like the one a ran the marathon for, or do I choose a charity that supports families in 'Need' those in poverty.
  • My heart also goes out to those who are old and lonely, actually thinking about them makes me want to sob. But I wonder whether a spot of volunteering could be more useful, something to investigate more.
  • The only thing I am definitely sure of is that I want to give to a charity that helps a third world country.
Do you give to a charity at all, or can you help me narrow the choice down; let me know any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wish I was a millionaire!!!!! I'll just leave you all with that thought.

Super Sorting Saturday!

Today has been a day of sorting and doing all the things I was supposed to do a long time ago.
As I still live at the family home I have for a while been collecting household items and generally pretty things that will one day fill my first home. I think in most cases its called the bottom drawer, however in my case it is the under bed, half the loft, 2 cupboards worth of beautiful stuff.
So the likes of BHS, Homesense, John Lewis and basically anywhere that has a homeware department, has been visited and taken my money. Today I have been taking stock of my belongings and attempting to compile a list of everything I have purchased it has not been an enjoyable task. Mainly because I have bits and pieces in every crevice of my room, I do believe it is an ongoing project.
The other half of my day has been a lot more fun. Anyone that knows me, should I hope know my love for 1)fashion and 2) a bargain. I buy clothes regardless of their size or colour, as long as I have a vision of what I can do to make it what I want. So if you were to look in my wardrobe you would find clothes ranging from a size 6-16.

Today's task was to change these trousers (excuse the crinkles) a standard pair of wide legged, low slung, tan cotton trousers. The fit on these trousers is perfect but the colour is not anything I would really wear so a bucket of water and some Dylan fabric dye should produce something much more wearable. They are still soaking at the moment but when they are washed, dried and ironed I will post a picture.

On another note have you all seen the adverts for the Les Miserables movie, I am so very excited. After watching a special documentary on the making of it I cannot wait. As it comes out on Friday 11th, I have set myself the challenge of reading the book in a week. I'm hoping I can complete the book in time, I shall be a bookworm from now until then.
But back to the movie I can already sense that I am going to be moved to tears a lot, I'll let you in on a secret, I have already cried at Anne Hathaway's rendition of "I dreamed a dream". That girl deserves an Oscar, not only because of a superb performance but she actually cut her hair LIVE on set, that girl had beautiful locks, serious dedication to a role.

On that note I will say goodbye, but tomorrow I will post The Bucket List of 2013.

A busy week

Here it is the 2nd post!!!
Sorry for the wait.
Heading back to work after a break is never fun, plus a busy week meant that there was no window for blog writing.
Hope you all had lovely New Year Celebrations, mine was reasonably quiet but still lovely. We had a game night with added scrumptious buffet and adorable baby that we all cooed over.
So heading back to work was hard but I luckily had some friends off work who were able to fill my evenings with fun things to do.

On Wednesday we went to see Pitch Perfect, if you haven't seen it and you like musical/glee/very funny/with a hint of romance, then you NEED to watch. I literally danced my way through the whole film, and by the end I wanted to head out on the town and boogy the night away......on a school night (which if you know me is something spectacular).
Pitch Perfect trailer

On Thursday we went to a wonderful curry house in Ferring, with amazing food and what was even better you can take your own drinks, so the wine was on us.
With 8 girls at the table it was a tad raucous, but so much fun.

Until next time Big loves xXxXx

Tuesday 1 January 2013

Hi there!!

Hi so I'm Katy and without stating the obvious this is my blog.
Obviously a complete rookie in the blogging world I thought I would start off with an introductory post.
I'm 25 years old and currently residing in the beautiful south of England. I work full time in a nursery looking after ickle squidgy babies. I'm sure you will find out more about me in the About Me senction and as the blog continues because I generally have alot to say.
The main reason for starting this blog was after one of my bestest friends Katie has a wonderful blog on the go, completely inspired my copycat blog. I'm sure she won't mind.

So 2012 was probably one of the best years of my life, I accomplished so much and so much of this is because I put myself out there and wasn't afraid to fail or do things on my own, a very new concept for myself.
I had compiled what our American friends would call a bucket list, which consisted of places I wanted to go, people I wanted to see, things I wanted and needed to do.

Here are some things that 2012 held for me:
*I ran/walked the London Marathon, the whole 26.2 miles, a huge achievement especially as stupidly my training had been minimal (I learnt that lesson) my time was 6 hrs 5 mins and 47 seconds. In the process I raised a little over £1000 for Children with Cancer, a charity very close to my heart.

*I visited Dublin, Venice, Spain, Dubrovnik, Croatia, Dorset and London A LOT. I'm sure there are a lot more places that I have undoubtedly forgotten about.
Trying some amazing 5 star food.

*I attended two festivals, both probably considered lame in the festival Rock and Roll Standards, but for a clean/hygiene freak like myself, it was a big and slightly stinky step.
V Festival.

Shakedown, Brighton.

*I attended the gymnastics at the Olympics and went to the Olympic park. A huge and wonderful event in British history and one that I will never forget.

*I was a bridesmaid for the first time in my 25 years of life.

I fell in love with this little fella in Monkey World, Dorset.

Coldplay gig, London

*This wasn't on the bucket list but had to be mentioned. So casually out for dinner with a friend, pretty standard; whilst I go and order our food a man goes to ask my friend how old I am. Then he leaves the pub, comes back 45 minutes later with this bunch of flowers and a note inside with his number. To say I was embarrassed, flattered, dumbstruck etc.
I made this Christmas floral arrangement at a one off evening course, but absolutely
loved it so am enrolled on a full course, will keep you posted.

Wonderful Bambi interpretation I thought, fun times ice skating.

And last but by no means least my favourite person
at Winter Wonderland, London.

So this ends my first ever blog post, I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures of 2012. The 2013 bucket list is currently being compiled and I'll shortly fill you all in on my plans.
Happy New Year Love Katy xxx
